On 11-22-03, I acquired a 1979 Gottlieb
Count-Down pinball machine. The task to restore it began the next
day. The machine was not in the best condition, because the
playfield glass was not on it while it was stored. It was
evident, after several thorough cleanings of the playfield, that
numerous paint touch-ups were necessary. The playfield was then
clearcoated to protect the work done. After allowing the
clearcoat to cure for nearly a month, the playfield top assemblies,
which included many new plastic pieces, were added along with new
rubber rings. At the same time, all of the playfield light insert
lenses were cleaned from the underside, all of the contacts and
switches were cleaned and adjusted, and every single light bulb,
(approximately 120 of them), was replaced with a new one. The
restoration was completed on 11-6-04.
